  Is there anybody in there?
Linux Posted by MRK on Wednesday October 18, @08:39PM
from the "2004 was a long long time ago...." dept.

Anyone in Southern Indiana hosting a LUG - IMHO it's near the "tipping point" and it would be nice to be able to share the fun when the upside-down pyramid of Window$ finally falters and collapses....
Seriously, anyone interested in getting aomething going - even outside the University?

Preferably somewhere between EVV and SDF and way south of IND?

I am a noob at Ubuntu (stop snickering, you geeks...) :), and getting close to putting Window$ out to pasture for good.

Thanks!

There is a mostly inactive LUG at USI. Students just need to pick it up and run with it to get it going again.

There is a sporadically active Linux mailing list, ostensibly for the USILUG, at http://pipeline.usi.edu/mailman/listinfo/linux

    Check it out.

If you are a student at USI and interested in getting the LUG going again, I am sure that you will find some help.

I would guess that a good portion of the people that post here are happy Ubuntu users. It has been my primary desktop for over a year now.

    Welcome.

    Jim

One of my quasi-coworkers randomly looked me up in the company contacts, dropped a call, and asked me fairly much the same question a month or two back.

Turns out that he's interested in resurrecting, more or less, ESUG (albeit that I doubt very much the 'S' part of that will be welcome).

Call me silly, but aside from the fact that it means that we could possibly go out and be antisocial as a group (which tends to fall apart most of the time, it seems), I've never seen much of a point of having a physical LUG. Sure, installfests are fun and all, but that also takes a lot of the fun out of the install itself ...

Anyways, who wants to do a weekend antisocial social? I'm working an insane shift nowadays that pretty much cuts every weekday out of the game. Well, I could possibly attend during my lunch hour, i guess.

How long ago did stream of consciousness set in? :-)
